I am doing this for real and this post is proof
How I wrote a blog post, even though I am absolutely feeling not ready for this
Hello, Blank Page.
I think I am going to tell people about this Substack sooner rather than never, and I need something here for them to see. So here I am.
Everything we decide to start must begin with something… a dream, a spark, a misplaced belief that total strangers will WANT to read an online diary/newsletter written by a woman who writes greeting cards by day and a romance novel between the hours of 5 am to 7am and then again from the hours after dinner/dishes BUT before bed… hopefully.
Anyway, I just happen to have all three of these things: a dream, a spark, and the willingness to exchange sleep for writing open door sex scenes that just might give people the wrong impression of me (fingers crossed).
So, if you have found your way here from one of the 3 online courses* I am taking right now, then I probably have begged you to hold me, a total stranger, accountable.
Hi and thank you.
I’m glad you’re here. I really don’t know if I would (could?) do this by myself, and since sadly nothing means more to me than the validation/approval of total strangers (haha?), and since that’s most likely you, and I am starting this journey off with gratitude: THANK YOU STRANGER!
(total word count: 306. It took me over 11 months from creating this account to writing this first post, and all I came up with was 226 lousy words? Wow, Kari, wow. You better not let your inner critic hear about this.)
P.S. One of the online courses I mentioned above has a really great community component, and a robust Slack group. One of the channels is called SMALL WINS. I very much want to be the kind of person who has a SMALL WIN to post. One post, 2 stones = all that jazz.
